Do you want to look like Madonna? Well, soon you can. The pop icon has announced that she will be launching her own fitness franchise. Along with her manager, Guy Oseary, and New Evolution Ventures, a fitness company from Lafayette, Calif., Madonna will open a chain of Hard Candy Fitness centers. Except this isn’t your typical gym chain—Hard Candy Fitness will populate 10 “major cities” in countries like Russia, Brazil and parts of Asia, and its flagship center will open in Mexico City next month.According to the press releases, each center will feature classes, a bicycle studio, a juice bar, a mind/body studio and “lavish locker rooms built with the finest materials.” Wow. The finest materials? Everyone knows a gym is only as good as its locker rooms.
Mexico City’s new Hard Candy Fitness gym will officially open on Nov. 29 and Madonna plans to attend the opening (so try not to look as gross as you usually do while exercising). The gym will comprise a whopping 30,000 square-foot. No word yet on how much it’s going to cost you to join.
There are no gyms planned for the US as of now, which we find slightly bizarre, but the press release says more locations will be announced in the future. Mark Mastrov, the founder and CEO of 24 Hour Fitness, who is a partner on these new gyms, said, “Hard Candy Fitness will be a reflection of Madonna’s point of view and will reflect her input on every detail including music space, light and other design cues. Madonna’s touch will be everywhere.”
