Arsene Wenger pinpoints Arsenal’s defensive weakness in open letter to disgruntled fan
French manager takes the time and trouble to reply to a supporter who was unhappy about the lack of transfer activity at the club
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that his side's defensive frailties have cost the Gunners a chance of title success, in an open letter to a disgruntled fan.
The Gunners boss took time out of his schedule to respond, by letter, to the supporter - highlighting where Arsenal went wrong last season and also explaining why he will not recklessly spend in the transfer market.
The Frenchman also accepted that the club's decline was his fault after the fan expressed his displeasure at the lack of big signings arriving at the Emirates Stadium.

"We have shown that we have the technical quality to win the league but certainly not the defensive solidity to do it," wrote Wenger.
"We have learned that we have the quality, despite what everybody is saying, but of course we need to gain some strength in some areas of the team."
And the Gunners' boss appears to be a man of his word, with Goal.com revealing that Arsenal are edging closer to acquiring the services of Bolton defender Gary Cahill, despite north London rivals Tottenham's attempts to hijack a deal for the England international.
