The
federation Competition Committee has eliminated SC Villa from the Bell Uganda
Cup for causing the abandonment of the 3rd quarterfinal match at Mehta grounds
in Lugazi, Tuesday. They were playing against URA at home and where trailing
3-1 by the time the match was
abandoned at 71 minutes after Villa fans
started pelting officials and fans with stones.
“Calm was
restored after the adequate intervention. It was possible to play the match up
to its logical conclusion and the above match was abandoned as a result of
Villa failing to continue with play as directed by the centre referee,” read
competitions Committee secretary Decolas Kiiza in a three-page statement on
Thursday.

The
competition committee ruled that Villa lost the match by forfeiture after they
refused to continue with the action,
with the referee saying that the situation was calm and action could continue.
This implies
that URA wins the match 3-0 with the
goals of Robert Ssentongo, Moses Feni and Allan Owiny stand while Villa’s goal
that came courtesy of Lawrence Kasadha has been
cancelled.
Villa will
not earn the money from the sponsors, Bell Uganda Cup, for putting the brand
into disrepute.
Kiiza had
earlier ruled out the inadequate security as a cause for abandonment, since the
Bell Uganda Cup (BUC) rules G20 says that “If security has been assessed as
adequate and violence erupts thereafter, absence of security shall not be
presented as defence for responsibility of ensuring crowd violence.”
SC Villa has also been challenged to produce
the main leaders of the violent conduct or be fined an extra sh1m while FCC
will forward some particular cases to the disciplinary committee for more
action.
SC Villa
still has a case of not declaring the gate corrections in the past matches,
where the visiting team have to get a 20% off the gross.
The action
is the second to be muted out over errant clubs, with Old Timers forfeiting
sh850, 000 for putting the sponsor’s name into disrepute.

understand the sporting intentions of the decisions. They have the right to
appeal within 14 days over the decision.”Bell Cup: Villa eliminated, fined
