Uganda's FUFA expell SC Villa for crowd trouble.
Federation of Uganda Football Association(FUFA) competition
committee has expelled Uganda’s SC Villa from this year’s Uganda Cup
and stand to lose unspecified amount following the abandonment of the
quarterfinal clash with Uganda Revenue Authority(URA) on Tuesday
During the match,police had to lob teargas and gunshots to contain the
situation after the match was called off in the 70th minute.SC Villa
fans attacked match officials with all manner of missiles protesting
the third goal that was scored through a spotkick.URA were leading
3-1 before trouble started in Lugazi.
Fufa competition committee(FCC) secretary Decolas Kiiza disclosed that
Villa have been given two weeks to appeal while the three goals for URA
will stand.
The team has been handed seven sanctions and fined heavily for refusing
to resume play when calm had returned,
The case has also been forwarded to the FUFA disciplinary committee for
further sanctions.
