Cristiano Ronaldo is the favourite to land the 2013 Ballon d’Or after Fifa revealed the three-man shortlist.
The Real Madrid forward is joined by reigning holder Lionel Messi and
Bayern Munich’s Franck Ribery, with the winner set to be announced in
Zurich on January 13.
Ronaldo is 8/15 favourite to scoop the prize, with Barca’s injured ace Messi at 6/4 and Ribery an outside shot at 14/1.
Ronaldo has racked up 67 goals in 57 games over the course of the
calendar year for club and country, while Messi’s injury means he
finished the year on 44 goals in 45 games.
Sir Alex Ferguson, who retired following 26 years as Manchester
United boss, is nominated for the Fifa World Coach of the Year alongside
another former boss, Jupp Heynckes, who led Bayern Munich to a league,
cup and Champions League treble last term.
Jurgen Klopp, whose Borussia Dortmund lost the all-German final to Bayern, is the third nominee.
