Smash: Newcastle United forward Loic Remy's Audi R8.
Limping: Remy hobbled away from his car after exiting through the passenger door.
Write off: Taxi driver Andrew Watson's Fiat
A taxi driver had his cab
written off after he was involved in a crash with Newcastle United star
Loic Remy less than half a mile from St James' Park.
The
France international forward's £100,000 Audi R8 car pulled across
Andrew Watson's Fiat at a busy junction, the 36-year-old cabbie told The Sun.
Remy, 26, limped away
from his car on the night of Saturday, October 5 after exiting via the
passenger's side because his door would not open.
Watson
said: 'The car turned right in front of me and all I could do was slam
my brakes on but we hit it. My passengers were thrown forward off the
seat and were all hurt. I hit my head.'
He added: 'He (Remy) was on his phone limping about. He’d hurt his left leg.'
Speaking out: Andrew Watson could not work with his car written off
Watson, who could not
work because his car was written off, added: 'Remy can probably just go
and get a new Audi R8. With my wages I’d be lucky to get an old banger.
'Friends hope I haven’t damaged Remy for the derby with Sunderland. But I’m not into football.'
Newcastle United would not comment on the incident when approached by The Sun. Remy's agent was unavailable.
